Rolling Fog

The Rolling Fog in True-Sky is a type of hero fog designed as such:

Rolling fog refers to a phenomenon where fog, which is essentially a low-lying cloud, moves or "rolls" over a landscape. This often occurs in areas with varying terrain, such as hills or mountains. The movement of the fog is typically influenced by the temperature, wind, and the topography of the land. When the conditions are right, the fog appears to roll or tumble down from higher areas to lower ones, giving it a dynamic, flowing appearance. It's a captivating natural spectacle often associated with coastal or mountainous regions.

Rolling fog is a volumetric based shader, this will impact the render times.

Rolling Fog Basics

Rolling fog provides controls to customize the density, color, and absorption properties of the fog.

Fog Density: Adjusts the density of the Rolling fog.

Inscatter Color 1: Sets the color of the fog when viewed from the front.

Inscatter Color 2: Sets the color of the fog when viewed from behind.

Fog Absorption: Determines the absorption coefficient of the fog.

Absorption Color: Sets the color of the fog absorption.

Rolling Fog Scale

The Scale controls in the Rolling Fog section allow you to manipulate the noise scale on different axes, influencing the appearance and distribution of the fog.

A smaller scale results in larger connected chunks of fog.

X: Adjusts the noise scale on the X-axis.

Y: Controls the noise scale on the Y-axis.

Z: Controls the noise scale on the Z-axis.

Rolling Fog Location

The Location controls in the Rolling Fog section allow you to control the positioning and formation of the fog.

Fog Formation: Acts as a random seed for the fog formation, influencing its overall shape and distribution.

X: Sets the offset along the X-axis for the fog.

Y: Sets the offset along the Y-axis for the fog.

Rolling Fog Animation Values

The Animation Values controls in the Rolling Fog section allow you to animate the fog effect by adjusting its formation speed and movement along different axes.

Formation Speed: Controls the speed at which the fog formations evolve over time.

X Speed: Adjusts the speed of the fog's movement along the X-axis.

Y Speed: Adjusts the speed of the fog's movement along the Y-axis.

Surface Fog

The Surface Fog in True-Sky allows you to add fog effects above surfaces close to the ground, such as above bodies of water:

Surface fog, also known as ground fog, refers to a weather condition where the fog is confined to the lowest level of the atmosphere, near or at the earth's surface. It is caused by the cooling of the ground which chills the air immediately above it, leading to condensation and fog formation.
Surface fog is a volumetric based shader, this will impact the render times.

Surface fog provides controls to customize the density, color, and absorption properties of the fog.

Fog Density: Adjusts the density of the surface fog.

Patches: Controls the distribution of fog patches across the surface.
