Asset Path: Defines the path where assets are stored

Highlight Sun Position Panel: Enabling this setting will highlight the Sun Position panel in the World Settings when you turn on 'Use Sun Position' in the True-Sol section. This highlighting can help you easily locate and access the Sun Position panel for further adjustments when utilizing the Sun Position feature in True-Sky.

Recommended Settings

The Recommended Settings section allows you to define the default settings that will be applied when pressing the settings button next to the 'Enable True-Sky' button in the side panel.

By toggling off the small circle toggle next to each setting, you can disable the settings that you don't want the addon to change when applying the recommended settings. This provides flexibility in customizing the recommended configuration based on your specific requirements.

Clipping Settings

Viewport Clip Start: Adjusts the minimum distance range for the viewport. Objects outside this range will not be shown.

Viewport Clip End: Adjusts the maximum distance range for the viewport. Objects outside this range will not be shown.

Camera Clip Start: Adjusts the minimum distance range for the camera. Objects outside this range will not be shown.

Camera Clip End: Adjusts the maximum distance range for the camera. Objects outside this range will not be shown.

Render Settings

Render Engine: Specifies the render engine to use (Cycles or Eevee).

Use Render Noise Threshold: Enables the use of a noise threshold for final rendering.

Render Samples: Sets the number of samples for final rendering.

Use Viewport Noise Threshold: Enables the use of a noise threshold for viewport rendering.

Viewport Samples: Sets the number of samples for viewport rendering.

True-Speed: This enables a faster approximation technique for global illumination calculations. It sacrifices some accuracy in exchange for significantly reduced render times, making it ideal for previewing scenes or optimizing rendering speed.

Enabling this option can help strike a balance between rendering efficiency and maintaining satisfactory visual quality in your renders. This will fake light bounces to do this however, so will not be physically accurate.

Volume Settings

Volume Step Rate Render: Adjusts the step size multiplier for volumes in renders.

Volume Step Rate Viewport: Adjusts the step size multiplier for volumes in the viewport.

Volume Max Steps: Sets the maximum number of steps through volumes.

Volume Light Path Bounces: Sets the maximum number of volume scattering bounces.

Transparent Light Path Bounces: Sets the maximum number of transparent scattering bounces.

Color Management Settings

View Transform: This option enables you to choose a view transform for the image. A view transform determines how the scene's colors are converted for display on a specific output device. Different view transforms offer varying levels of color accuracy and tonal representation. The available options include:

  • Standard: This option applies no extra conversion besides the conversion for the display device. It is often used for non-photorealistic results or video editing where a specific look is already baked into the input video.
  • Filmic: Selecting this option provides photorealistic results and better handling of high dynamic range colors. You can adjust the contrast by changing the Look option for the Filmic view transform.
  • Filmic Log: This option converts the image to the Filmic log color space. It is useful for exporting to color grading applications or inspecting the image by flattening out very dark and light areas.
  • Raw: Choosing this option gives you the image without any color space conversion. It is intended for inspecting the image but not for final export.
  • False Color: This option displays a heat map of image intensities, allowing you to visualize the dynamic range of the image.

Look: This setting enables you to apply an artistic effect to the image, simulating the look of certain film types. The Look option is chosen from a set of measured film response data. It is applied before color space conversion and can add a specific aesthetic to your rendered images. The available options include various levels of contrast, ranging from "None" to "Very Low Contrast."

Exposure: This option controls the image brightness by adjusting the exposure. You can specify the exposure value in stops to make the image brighter or darker. This adjustment is applied before color space conversion.

Gamma: Enabling this option allows you to apply additional gamma correction to the image after color space conversion.

Shadow Caustics: When enabled, this setting allows you to use shadow caustics for the World Shader. Shadow caustics refer to the patterns of light and shadow formed when light passes through transparent or refractive objects and creates intricate patterns on other surfaces. By marking the World Shader as a refractive caustic caster, you can selectively speed up the rendering of refractive caustics for specific objects by using the Cast and Receive caustics object settings.
